Seoul, South Korea, set list heavy on new material, but Gaga’s biggest hits come out to play.

<P><a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/lady_gaga/artist.jhtml">Lady Gaga</a> kicked off her hotly awaited <i>Born This Way</i> Ball at Seoul, South Korea's Olympic Stadium on Friday (April 27) in front of 45,000 fans, and despite <a href="http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-17867102" target="_blank">protests</a> from Christian groups saying Mother Monster was "obscene" and could "taint" young people with her performance, the concert appears to have gone on without incident.</P><P>Intrepid Twitter fans are already showing off pictures and video of the <i>BTW</i> Ball's enormous Gothic castle backdrop and myriad costume changes, making it clear that Gaga has outdone even her own Monster Ball in terms of spectacle.</P><P>While we wait for reviews to trickle in from halfway around the world, one thing is certain: No minors were corrupted at the show. Earlier this month, the Korea Media Rating Board decided to <a href="http://newsroom.mtv.com/2012/04/02/lady-gaga-unfazed-by-south-korean-concert-age-restrictions/">elevate the age rating</a> for the concert from 12 to 18, prohibiting minors from seeing the concert. When the board notified Gaga's tour promotion company and a sponsor of the change in age restrictions, it did not offer a reason why the show &#8212; which at the time was still in rehearsals and had not been reviewed publicly &#8212; was considered unsuitable for children under 18.</P><P><CENTER><embed src="http://media.mtvnservices.com/mgid:uma:video:mtv.com:717952/cp~vid%3D717952%26uri%3Dmgid%3Auma%3Avideo%3Amtv.com%3A717952" width="430" height="242" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowFullScreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" base="."></embed></CENTER></P><P>The likely catalyst for the board's decision came more into focus as the concert neared and protests from a group of conservative Christians calling itself the Alliance for Sound Culture in Sexuality ramped up. The group <a href="http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-31749_162-57419977-10391698/lady-gagas-born-this-way-ball-met-by-protests-in-south-korea/" target="_blank">covered Seoul with posters</a> accusing Gaga of "spreading unhealthy sexual culture" through "lewd lyrics and performances."</P><P>The superstar and her fans, however, were undeterred. Though she <a href="https://twitter.com/#!/ladygaga/status/186886867118080000" target="_blank">tweeted</a> her hopes that the Korea Media Rating Board would reverse its decision (it didn't), she continued on as planned. Many fans reportedly arrived at the show wearing versions of Gaga's most well-known flamboyant costumes, and there have been no reports of disturbances at the concert.</P><P>Before the show, Gaga <a href="https://twitter.com/#!/ladygaga/status/195815732494348288" target="_blank">tweeted</a>, "I can you hear you Korea. After dropping last Monday, the song has sold 520,000 downloads in its first week.</P><P>The number is particularly meaningful since it places him at #2 in all-time first-week singles sales. Flo Rida's track "Right Round," featuring a then up-and-coming Ke$ha, has the Biebs beat, according to <a href="http://www.hitsdailydouble.com/news/rumormill.cgi" target="_blank">Hits Daily Double</a>. Flo's track sits at #1 with 636,000 units moved. "The concept of this video, I mean it's not like a steady concept," he explained to MTV News on the Cali-based set in between shots. "It's not like 'Justin follows this girl to this spot.' No, it's a bunch of amazing scenes: Like a fire scene, we have an ice scene.</P><P>"It's kind of like bouncing back and forth," he said. "And then there's scenes of me and just a bunch of girl dancers, and just some great shots, great artistic shots, great shots of me smiling. It's fun."</p>

We look at Britney’s $15 million deal and what that kind of reality TV money can buy.

$15 million. Sure, on the surface that number seems pretty gaudy, especially when you consider it’s for one season
 of work on a reality TV show that will add up to maybe one month’s work in total for Britney Spears.

But we’re talking Britney here and when you aim to reel in the big fish you have to use a really big worm. That might explain why Simon Cowell has gone all-in to get Spears to join him and L.A. Reid on the panel of “Factor” this fall. Spears had been rumored for the gig for months, but considering the low profile she’s kept since her string of personal problems several years ago — which included a nearly-total retreat from interviews and unscripted public appearances — the idea of Britney agreeing to appear on live TV twice a week seemed remote.

Cowell typically gets what he wants, though, and now the world is going to see more of Britney than we have since her late 1990s heyday. What does that $15 mil buy you? We break it down … by the numbers:

$12 million: That’s the figure that Jennifer Lopez reportedly earns for her gig on “American Idol.” We’re not exactly sure what fellow former “Mickey Mouse Club” veteran Christina Aguilera makes for each season of “The Voice,” but she reportedly banks $225,000 per episode, which could add up to nearly $10 million a season.

10,721: The approximate number of copies of Spears’ Circus album that you could buy with $15 large.

15: The number of Paula Abdul’s you could pay for one season of “X Factor” for the price of one Britney Spears.

$131.8 million: Total grosses for Britney’s 2009 “The Circus” tour.

$1.5 billion: Total global grosses for Spears’ various fragrances, which have sold more than one million bottles in five years.

15: Number of high-end music videos you could make based on the $1 million price tag of Britney’s 2004 clip for “Toxic.”

750: That’s how many $20,000 bras you could buy based on the reported cost of the super high-end 18K gold brassiere Spears wore in her Twister Dance promo.

If there is one thing you should have learned while watching “MTV First: Snow White and the Huntsman” on Tuesday night, it’s that Oscar-winning thespian Charlize Theron is not only extremely talented and beautiful, but she just seems like a lot of fun, no matter what she’s doing or talking about.

Case in point: When Theron was posed a question via Twitter about how much fun she had “diva-ing out” and playing “a bitch for a change,” via her role as Evil Queen Ravenna in “Snow White and the Huntsman.”

“What do you mean, ‘for a change’?” she joked. “God, yeah. That’s the tricky thing of the movie: Finding that line that you can walk where you’re not going into camp-ville and you’re also not going into ‘please take me serious Marlon Brando acting-ville.’ I did enjoy just screaming at people,” Theron admitted. “I screamed so much at people, I tore a stomach muscle, which I had never heard of that before.

“And then off-set, you can joke about it, because you’re in these costumes. I felt like I was being so high-maintenance: ‘It hurts, oh gosh, I can’t walk to craft service,’ ” she fake-whined. “You become a big pain in the ass. I mean, I’m saying it was the costume. but it really wasn’t. That’s how I behaved.”

In addition to channeling her inner diva, Theron said she enjoyed exploring the fantastical elements involved in making a fairy tale.

“Of course you have this luxury to then throw back to the fairy tale,” she said. “It’s really huge in scale. This film is epic and big and the characters, what we tried to do was ground it and give it weight and reality, but there is a small part of this film that has to celebrate the fantastical of it.”

President Obama has officially announced his support of same-sex marriage, hot on the heels of the media storm caused by North Carolina’s constitutional ban of gay marriage, as well as Vice President Joe Biden’s recent comments that he is “absolutely comfortable” with it.

Although at times it seemed Obama was reluctant to publicly announce whether he fully supported the issue, instead supporting civil unions, the POTUS made his stance clear in an interview with “Good Morning America” that will air Thursday morning.

“I have to tell you that over the course of several years as I have talked to friends and family and neighbors, when I think about members of my own staff who are in incredibly committed monogamous relationships, same-sex relationships, who are raising kids together, when I think about those soldiers or airmen or marines or sailors who are out there fighting on my behalf and yet feel constrained, even now that ‘don’t ask, don’t tell’ is gone, because they are not able to commit themselves in a marriage, at a certain point I’ve just concluded that for me, personally, it is important for me to go ahead and affirm that I think same-sex couples should be able to get married,” Obama told Robin Roberts during the interview.

The president went on to say that he is confident more Americans will become comfortable with the idea and cited his daughters’ progressive perspectives on the subject as a primary example.

“It’s interesting, some of this is also generational,” he said. “You know when I go to college campuses, sometimes I talk to college Republicans who think that I have terrible policies on the economy, on foreign policy but are very clear that when it comes to same-sex equality or, you know, sexual orientation that they believe in equality. They are much more comfortable with it. You know, Malia and Sasha, they have friends whose parents are same-sex couples. There have been times where Michelle and I have been sitting around the dinner table and we’re talking about their friends and their parents, and Malia and Sasha, it wouldn’t dawn on them that somehow their friends’ parents would be treated differently. It doesn’t make sense to them and, frankly, that’s the kind of thing that prompts a change in perspective.”

Despite North Carolina’s constitutional ban of same-sex marriage, the issue’s supporters had reason for celebration Wednesday (May 9): President Barack Obama has officially backed gay marriage.

The news became a trending topic on Twitter almost instantly, with the social-networking site’s millions of users — including celebrities — issuing countless tweets of thanks to the president.

“Bravo, Mr. President, and thank you,” Neil Patrick Harris
tweeted. The actor is engaged to his longtime partner, David Burtka, and the pair adopted twins together in 2010.

“Open our hearts & minds! Proud of Obama for speaking up,” wrote “Glee” actress Dianna Agron, with co-star Chris Colfer tacking his happy thoughts onto those of Ellen DeGeneres: “I second! RT @TheEllenShow: Thank you President @BarackObama for your beautiful and brave words. I’m overwhelmed.”

“Star Trek” and “Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol” star Simon Pegg summed things up succinctly with initials and an emoticon: “GO BO!!! ”

If there were awards handed out for the most LOL-inducing celeb tweet, that would go to “Modern Family” star Jesse Tyler Ferguson, who had a message for the first lady and his partner: “With @MichelleObama & @JustinMikita permission I would like to marry @BarackObama right now!”

Even more excited was Kim Kardashian, who had way more than 140 characters to express on the subject, so she took to her website. “This is such a huge step forward in our country’s fight for civil rights and I hope that today this will give hope to so many young people across the country,” she wrote. “We’ve never had a president so supportive of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community and today I am proud to be an American!! I’m so happy that our country is making history and moving forward. No more living in the past!”

<P><b>NEW YORK</b> &#8212; After the <a href="/news/articles/1683238/tupac-coachella-hologram-.jhtml">Tupac hologram performance</a> at Coachella made such a huge splash, the team behind the projection system floated the possibility this week of an <a href="/news/articles/1683909/justin-bieber-elvis-hologram.jhtml">Elvis hologram to perform with Justin Bieber</a>. Even '90s girl group <a href="http://rapfix.mtv.com/2012/04/26/tlc-reunion-tour-left-eye-hologram">TLC is rumored to be considering</a> a virtual version of <a href="/news/articles/1683858/left-eye-tlc-death.jhtml">the late Left Eye</a> on their upcoming tour.</P><P>With all that talk, MTV News hit Times Square to ask fans which departed artists they would most like to see perform in hologram form. While some of those interviewed wanted to see other rappers like the Notorious B.I.G. or Nate Dogg, one fan thought Whitney Houston should get the honors.</P><P><embed src="http://media.mtvnservices.com/mgid:uma:video:mtv.com:764208/cp~vid%3D764208%26uri%3Dmgid%3Auma%3Avideo%3Amtv.com%3A764208" width="460" height="260" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowFullScreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" base="."></embed></P><P>"I love her, I grew up singing her [songs], just walking around the house when I was seven or eight," Shayana of Houston said.</P><P>Brits Amy Winehouse and John Lennon of the Beatles were also popular picks, and a few rock fans mentioned Queen's flamboyant frontman. "It would have to be Freddie Mercury because Queen were one of the all-time greatest bands and he was a showman," said a fan named Rob.</P><P>Blane Mader would like to see a hologram of another <a href="/news/articles/1683289/tupac-hologram-coachella-future-of-touring.jhtml"> great showman, Michael Jackson</a>.</P><P>"It's a really clich&#233; answer, but in my time I've never seen him and it would just be something awesome to watch," Mader said of the King of Pop.</P><P>Members of the Jackson 5 recently announced that they would love to have a <a href="http://rapfix.mtv.com/2012/04/23/michael-jackson-hologram-jackson-brothers-tour">virtual Michael</a> on their upcoming Unity Tour. "Wouldn't that be wonderful? As a matter of fact, we had that idea two years ago for Michael's Cirque du Soleil show," Michael's brother Jackie Jackson told E! Michael Jackson’s former bodyguard Matt Fiddes claims that the late King of Pop once tried to have members of his inner circle kill Randy Jackson.

His brother, not the portly American Idol personality of the same name.

In the interview with The Sun (UK), Fiddes claims that Michael was intensely paranoid and “caught in a war with his brothers for years, They were all desperate to sign him up to a $500 million deal for a Jackson 5 reunion tour.”

Fiddes explained that the eccentric Michael eventually grew fearful of his sibling.

“Things reached a head when Randy was trying to force his way past the bodyguards to speak to him in one of his rented homes. Michael ordered him to be shot.”

Of course, no one shot Randy, who is alive and (presumably) well right now.

Fiddes adds, “[Michael] was out of mind on drugs and luckily Randy was OK.”

“Randy was so scared he got on the phone and threatened to call the press. He told the bodyguards, ‘If you shoot me the whole world will know about it.’”

Fiddes also claims MJ despised Madonna and poked holes in a Voodoo doll of Steven Spielberg. None of his accusations have been corroborated.
